Wreck on US 169 in Iola Kills Humboldt Man

A head-on collision on the east edge of Iola this morning has killed a Humboldt man. According to a report released by the Kansas Highway Patrol late this morning, 54-year old Larry Ridge of Humboldt died after he drove left of center on US 169 as he was crossing the bridge over US 54 and hit a southbound semi head-on. An autopsy is scheduled to try and determine what caused Ridge to drift out of his lane of travel. The wreck occurred about 3:50 this morning, and troopers say the driver of the semi, Robert Keal of Cherryvale, may have suffered a minor injury but was not taken to the hospital.
